Samira’s blues: North-African spirituals and original songs by Samira, in Arabic/ Tamazight/ French
Samira follows the nomadic trail of her ancestors, by living in Morocco’s desert, attending ceremonies in the Atlas Mountains and Sous and joining Gnaoua Lila’s (nights) in Essaouira. Back in Amsterdam she writes and composes songs together with musicians from the Dutch World scene. Her songs are always moving, connecting back and forth with musicians from and in Morocco. Keeping them and their music close to her heart.
Samira Dainan is also an author of the well-received non-fiction novel ‘Veertig Dagen’ (Ambo Anthos), in which she describes the forty days of grief after her Moroccan father passed away.
